Twilight synopsis

The story begins when Isabella (Bella) Swan, decided to leave sunny Phoenix to move in with her father Charlie, in a small Washington town of Forks, in order to give her mother Renee more freedom to go with her new husband Phil, as he trots the continental US to pursue his minor league baseball career. At first, Renee was against Bella’s decision knowing how she disliked the wet and gloomy weather, but later on relented but not without numerous reminders that Bella should call as soon as she decides that the small town is not to her liking.

The journey didn’t take long and soon Bella found herself in the familiar small living room where she grew up and visited during the summer. Her father Charlie is Chief Swan, the town sheriff. Bella’s first day in school was nothing she expected, she used to be nondescript in her old school and blended with the shadows, but not in Forks, she felt as if everyone was staring at her, she made friends with the local kids and soon after noticed the beautiful crowd of the Cullens.

Bella could not tear her eyes off of them as she gaze in total amazement at how beautiful they all look, pale, smooth skinned, crimson lips, gold hair until her gaze fall on the bronze haired. She immediately asked her new friends who they are and was told that they are the foster children of Dr. and Mrs. Cullen. The girls in her group did not do so much as to hide their admiration for Edward, the bronze haired, Bella sneaked a peek from under her lashes and saw Edward glaring at her, his tawny eyes boring into her very soul.

Bella was intrigued at how everyone seems to steer clear of them, they are just perfect and too beautiful for the human eye. She later found out that Edward is in her Biology class, the first encounter didn’t go well, he seemed repulsed by her smell. Bella made a conscious decision to confront Edward but he was nowhere to be found, her heart sank and she felt a pang of foreign feeling building inside her, she wanted so much to see his beautiful face, but he didn’t show up the next day. Bella started to become anxious and dreamt of Edward. The third day, without much hope of ever seeing his ocher eyes again, there he was in Biology class, sat at an angle as usual, but it was different this time, he actually spoke and introduced himself.

Later that day, Bella was checking her tyres in the parking lot when Tyler’s blue van lost control and skidded towards her direction, almost ramming her against the truck, if it wasn’t for the quick maneuver of Edward, pushing her aside and stopping the van from crushing her, single handedly. Bella was awestruck and wanted to confront Edward to no avail, he was trying to avoid her and said it would be best if they are not to become friends.

Later that week, the weather being sunny for once, which was not much really, Bella agreed to go with her classmates to the beach, in La Push area, a place near the reservation. There she met with her childhood friend Jacob Black, and lured him into telling her more about the ‘legends’ why the other guy in Jacob’s group seem to resent the mention of the Cullens. Jacob relayed the folklores about the ‘cold ones’ which the Cullen clan is supposed to be, and their sworn enemy the werewolves, which Jacob’s clan is a part of. Bella did some research and came to a conclusion that Bill, the chief of the Quelitine tribe and Jacob’s father is right about his suspicions.

Bella confronted Edward, and whilst they were in the dense forest, he admitted it to her. Edward finds it excruciatingly difficult to be around Bella, because of her special scent. Edward was able to fight off the temptation to bite off her neck though, thanks to the no-human diet, Carlisle Cullen (Edward’s dad) had the Cullens get accustomed to.

Later on, Edward introduced Bella to the whole family, his foster parents Carlisle & Esme, Emmet & Rosalie and Alice & Jasper. Everyone was nice to Bella, except for Rosalie, who she later found out was supposed to be Edward’s mate. The visit went well and Bella was invited to watch the Cullens play baseball, during a thunderstorm, the only time the vampire clan could have a go at sports, due to the loud sounds they emit as Bella found out while they played.

In the middle of the game, Alice had a vision (she has a special power like Edward, he can read people’s minds while she can foresee the future). They all converged around Bella protectively, when three nomad vampires came along. Laurent, James and Victoria. Laurent, the supposedly leader said they were just passing through, and wouldn’t mind a friendly game, to which Carlisle agreed to, adding some of them are leaving anyway, as Edward was guiding Bella towards the jeep, a gust of wind blew and James, the tracker, sniffed Bella’s scent. Carlisle said Bella’s a part of their family and that James and his coven should leave at once.

Edward was aghast and Bella was confused, they made plans of taking Bella far away from Forks,. Bella pleaded with Edward to make her like him, a vampire, so James would not track her anymore, but Edward would not hear of it. Esme and Rosalie mislead the tracker, while Edward, Carlisle and Emmet tried to close around him. Alice and Jasper were in charge to take Bella to safety, they drove all night and day to Phoenix and stayed in the hotel till they knew it was safe. Bella got a call from her mother, James snatched the phone and instructed Bella to meet him in her old ballet school if she wanted to see Renee again. Bella panicked, but she could not afford to let anything bad happen to Renee because of her, so she snuck out of the hotel room, full of regrets that she will not be able to see Edward for the last time.

Bella was frantically calling for Renee when she got to the ballet studio, only to find out that James duped her. The voice came from an old video recording, where Renee sounded worried that Bella might have tripped. Bella tried to escape but she was not match to James’ agility and strength. James, took out a camcoder and commanded Bella to ask Edward to avenge her, he stepped on Bella’s leg, breaking the bone when she resisted and pleaded with Edward not to do it.
James huffed and threw Bella across the room, letting her hit her head on the mirror, which made her bleed. The smell of blood was too much for James, he jumped towards Bella taking hold of her hand and bit her, draining her of blood. Edward came out of nowhere, flinging James to the side, he crouched beside Bella, agonized by the smell of her sweet blood. James lurched at Edward, they fought furiously, until Emmet and Jasper came to help Edward. Carlisle and Alice came too, they administered to Bella, Edward running to her side as soon as he was sure Emmet and Jasper had James secured.

Bella was in agony, the venom slithering in her veins, making her writhe in pain. Alice was supporting Bella’s head, Carlisle was at her side, seeing to the fractured bone when he said the venom must be removed. Alice had a premonition that Bella would be like them, Edward would not hear of that. Carlisle reminded Edward that Bella only had a few minutes, he wasn’t keen on letting Bella cross over as well, since she’s of perfect health. Edward hesitatingly took hold of Bella’s arm and sucked out the venom out of her system, finding it hard to stop. Carlisle reminded him with a firm voice to stop or Bella would die. It took all Edward’s strength to stop but he did, he sprinted out of the room with Alice soon as they were sure Bella was alright, leaving Carlisle to administer to Bella, having been immune to the smell of blood.

Bella smelt gasoline and lost consciousness. She later awoke in the hospital, Renee was beside her, she frantically asked where Edward was, she calmed Bella and reassured her that he’s asleep on the couch. Bella sighed in relief and smiled, knowing that Edward was not really asleep, he does not sleep, he was listening to their conversation. Renee told Bella that she fell off the stairs into the window and broke her leg, a story fabricated by the Cullens to cover up what really happened, Bella agreed eagerly, and stuck with the story.

Bella was finally released from the hospital and she was able to go home to Charlie, who is chagrined about the whole thing but was thankful that Bella is okay. Bella assured him it was not Edward’s fault, that he in fact, saved her life. Edward took Bella to the dance and there Bella pleaded with Edward again, to make her like him, she never would want them to be apart again. Edward was adamant not to give in, but Bella knew in her hearts of heart that she will not stop until Edward relents.

Twilight

I just finished reading this extra-ordinary epic and I must say I am so deeply enamored with the story line, the characters, the simple complexity, the wit, the humor and everything that makes it a best selling book.
It took me 6 hours, on and off to finish the book, which I must say is the fastest I've ever read anything, ever.
It is so easy to read. I glided through each line, anticipating what's to come next. I better get some sleep now, New Moon is next.

Out and about

I had a good outing today! Ugh! I have more err footwear than I need but well, when is it ever too much to have snuggly footwear? uhm Never! hahahaha... I so love that mall, even though it's terribly far. There's so much to see I could not believe we never went there before.

I was so glad I had my trainers on, or I would be screaming bloody murder! We didn't really get the chance to roam around the whole place, it's just ginormous. Hmm aside from the footwear I got myself a couple of bottles of new scents, yay me! YSL's Elle is fabulous. I so love the woody notes of patchouli and vetiver. The pink berries and jasmine delish, but I really could not care much for the lychee uhm but well it was thrown in the mix. I totally adore the bottle and the packaging, my fave colour ever.

The other perfume I bought is Caline Sweet Appeal by Grès. I think I chose it cause of the chocolate, musk and patchouli notes. It has a touch of jasmine too. My bestfriend teased me and with a raised eyebrow asked 'Do you have a love affair with patchouli? Why not just rub mint on your wrists or something?' bah! That made me laugh out loud but not before I gave her a stern look and glanced at her uhm parfums of choice. She smiled at me and said, well hmm you can't fault a woman for wanting to smell enticing, to which I nodded and smiled. She actually answered her own question.

We met with our other friends afterwards for lunch in Chilli's. I still do not like their long grained, rounded yellowish rice, whatever it's called. I had a steak like I usually do and uhm surprisingly finished it for once. Boy! was I hungry, that long wandering around must've done the trick. I just love the vanilla flavoured iced tea, couldn't help but ask for a second and a third *blushes*

There was no room for desert after we're done. I just could not take anymore, neither could they. We wandered around some more and found this cozy Italian coffee shop. It's such an eye candy that we all decided to go in and have coffee. I wasn't too keen on it but was glad we stopped by because of the génoise. Oh my word! I have never tasted a sponge cake as nice as that (it was delicate, yummo!).

It was wonderful to go out and about sometimes but uhm not really friendly on the wallet! ugh! In the end it's all worth it. I had a good day!

Black Friday

I got a call early in the morning from my cousin who's in the other side of the world. Ecstatic and uber joyed, blabbering her thanks for the amazon kindle I sent her for Thanksgiving, with a specific message saying it covers all the other holidays ie. Christams, New Year, Three Kings and Valentines day which of course made her laugh out loud.

She was so very pleased with her gift, and asked me for the nth time what I wanted in return. I murmured a 'nothing you can send me' in my sleep induced state which made her more adamant in asking what it is I wanted. A half smile formed on my lips and said teasingly, I want Edward Cullen. I almost fully awaken myself by the sound of my bubbly giggle, for it left her dumbfounded, not truly knowing who or what an Edward Cullen is. Realization dawned on her and I heard a loud shriek on the other end of the line, clearly, now she know who it was I was referring to.

The call ended with a light banter and me finally acquiescing for her to send me the Anita Blake books I seem to have trouble finding here, and throw in the Jacqueline Carey ones to complete my collection, so that I could finally start reading...

I got up shortly, got dressed and decided to spend the day gallivanting, in the true spirit of Black Friday.... I went out shopping...

Thursday blues...

Getting up in the morning is always a challenge, but of late, it has changed from bad to worse. I blame it entirely on the weather, it is starting to get cold and there is nothing more I want to do but stay under the warmth of the covers and sleep the day away, if only that were possible.

I grudgingly dragged myself out of bed and into the shower, the cold water like tiny needles piercing my skin, which made me jump and scream. I must have been a sight to behold, akin to a cat that fell into a pool of ice cold water, gasping for air. I pity my neighbors for being privy to my ungodly howls (seriously, I sound piteous in the morning, but who wouldn’t?).

To make an extremely long story short, I managed to get out of there in one piece albeit shivering and shriveled like a prune. The next minutes were a blur as I hurriedly got dressed, wore my shoes and jump into the car to brave the morning traffic. It was still dark when I hit the road, the gloom of the darkened sky, a telltale of the heavy rain that pelted the night before. The roads were slippery and wet, there were potholes in some areas, thank goodness there was no flooding, or it would have been a greater inconvenience than it already is.

The traffic surprisingly was not that bad, maybe because it is a Thursday, or maybe some of the frequent road travelers have opted to stay indoors expecting the worst on the roads, or maybe they have hit the snooze button one too many times and are just stirring from slumber, whichever the case is, I was thankful for the movement.

I got here within the grace period which is a good thing, having said that, I better get back to work and clear up for the weekend. Toodles!

Getting started...

I have been mulling over the idea of starting a blog for the past couple of weeks. I have always loved the written words, but it has been eons since I sat down and wrote something, anything, for that matter. There's just too many distractions and I never really get some quiet time to sit down and pour my thoughts out.... well, until this very moment of course.

I do believe it's high time I start over and just let whatever comes to mind spout, the clean slate of a blinking screen will serve as my parchment and the ever yielding keyboard my pen. In the coming days, I shall endeavor to keep the pages of this blog teeming with words, albeit alien to most, but surely sensible to the one who wrote them.

Now let us see... what should I write about? what should I so brazenly share amongst the multitude of bloggers with a spare minute or two, gallivanting the vast cyberspace? Should I try to write something with sense? something witty? something engaging? or should I resign myself into composing nonsensical things that no one in their right mind would spend a nano second reading? it's quite a dilemma deciding, I tell you...

How about... I stick to the title of this blog and write about the day to day happenings in the life of a stranger, living in a strange land? That surely, is appealing to me, eureka! I do believe that shall be what I will write about...

and so, to you, my unfortunate first time reader I bequeath the daily happenings in the life of this stranger....
